Sangria is summer in a pitcher—bright, juicy and brimming with seasonal fruit. This time of year, peaches, plums, cherries and melons are at their sweetest, making them the stars of the show. I like to use a Spanish Rioja, but Grenache, Tempranillo or even Pinot Noir work beautifully. Choose something big, fruity and enjoyable on its own! Add thinly sliced citrus, crisp apples and cherries, then let the sangria chill overnight so the flavors can mingle. The result is a refreshing, crowd-pleasing drink that’s perfect for backyard parties and sunny afternoons with friends.

Ingredients
- 1 bottle fruity red wine Grenache, Rioja, Pinot Noir
- 1/2 cup brandy
- 1-2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1 orange thinly sliced
- 1 lemon thinly sliced
- 1 heaping cup seasonal fruit of choice cut into cubes
- ice cubes for serving
Instructions
- In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, brandy and maple syrup. Add slices of orange, lemon and a medley of seasonal fruit, then stir gently to bring the flavors together. Refrigerate for several hours or overnight, for the most depth, before serving over ice for a chilled, refreshing drink.
