Candied Walnuts

Candied Walnuts

If you’re in need of a festive gift idea, these candied walnuts are a simple and healthier version of glazed nuts. The nuts are roasted in a combination of maple syrup and honey as a substitute for granulated sugar. In addition to giving these caramelized nuts as a gift, you can toss them into a salad, mix with your favorite popcorn, add to your oatmeal or just snack on them. These candied walnuts are also a perfect compliment to a cheese tray. Enjoy the holidays!

Roasted Walnuts
Servings: 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 2 cups raw walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons good raw honey
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  • Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet or roasting tray with parchment paper. Toss the walnuts with the honey, maple syrup, cinnamon and salt. Toss well to coat the nuts completely. Pour the nuts on the prepared sheet tray and spread with a spatula into a single layer. Bake the nuts for 12-15 minutes until lightly browned and fragrant. Check on the nuts half way through the cooking time and give them a toss. Remove the nuts from the oven. The glaze will harden as the nuts cool.
